Funeral services for Mrs. Jewel Ann Stayt, age 75 of Cookeville, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, February 18 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Skurlock Cemetery in White County. The family will receive friends Thursday from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Mrs. Stayt passed away Monday, February 15, 2016 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born January 9, 1941 in White County, TN to the late Herschel and Ethel Wright Guy. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur William (Bill) Stayt, brother, James Guy and two sisters, Dean Bower and Juanita Guy. Mrs. Stayt took pride in being a military wife during her husband's 25 year Navy career. She and her husband were motorcycle enthusiasts. She also loved taking weekend trips with her two special friends, Sue Fox and Shirley Holman. She is survived by three sons, Rick Smith of Cookeville, and Gary Smith of Sparta, and Terry Stayt (wife Carol) of Summerville, SC; daughter, Kim Smith of Cookeville; seven grandchildren, Lindsay Slee, Cody Smith, Kristin Smith, Kacey Smith, Cameron Thrower, Coby Sanderson (husband Miles), and Conner Stayt; two great-grandchildren, Davick Howard and Harper Sanderson. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
