Jerry Moore

March 6, 1933 — December 8, 2023

A memorial service with military honors for Mr. Jerry D. Moore, age 90 of Baxter, will be held Tuesday, December 12th at 12:00pm at the Cookeville chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home.


His family will receive friends Tuesday from 10:00am until service time at the funeral home.


Mr. Moore went home to be with his Lord Friday morning, December 8, 2023 at Lebanon Center for Rehabilitation and Healing in Lebanon, TN.


He was born March 6, 1933 in Smithville, TN to the late Thomas Walker Moore and Lillie Mae Waggoner Moore. He was a graduate of Dekalb County High School. He proudly served in the US Army and was a Korean War Veteran, stationed in Alaska throughout the conflict.


Jerry was also a husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and Preacher. He lived a long and fulfilling 90 years. There isn’t anywhere in the Middle Tennessee area that you cannot go and see his masonry work from schools, to hospitals. Jerry was skilled in various other forms of construction and worked for many years for Kenneth Jones Construction, including as a foreman. He also enjoyed woodworking and time spent fishing.


Jerry's most prolific hobby was reading his Bible, diligently studying the Word at various times throughout the day. He was a faithful, longtime member of Ozion Freewill Baptist Church and preached on a Sunday morning radio program at Cookeville's WHUB station. He was always concerned with the needs of others, especially concerning their relationship with God and their salvation offered to all through Jesus Christ.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Maynard; and by siblings, Ernest Moore, Royce Moore, Tom Moore, David Moore and Reba Page.


He is is survived by his wife of 67 years, Donna Fern Montgomery Moore; son, Gary (Coralee) Moore; daughters, Rosalind Sewell and Renee (Terry) Burton; sisters, Nina Hart and Elouise Foster; grandchildren, Christopher Daniel (Brandy) Maynard, Keith (Beverly) Maynard, Jordan (Gene) Carmen, Cameron Burton and Abigail Thomas; and great grandchildren, Kylie, Isabella, Ruby, Lilly, Daniel, Regina, Harvey and Maddon.
