Janie Harris

Memorial services for Janie Shanks Harris, 61, of Silver Point will be held Monday, August 29 at 2 PM at the Baxter Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home with Bro. Tony Crow officiating. A private family burial will be held at a later date in Odd Fellows Cemetery. Mrs. Harris died Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at NHC of Cookeville. She was born August 23, 1950 in Silver Point, TN to Eudora "Dot"� Watts Shanks of Baxter and the late Solon Shanks. Mrs. Harris was a 1968 graduate of Upperman High School and a graduate of McMinnville Nursing School. She was a retired LPN with Cookeville Regional Medical Center with 34 years service. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of 42 years, Junior Laley Harris (whom she married August 22, 1969 in Jackson County, TN); two sons, Alan Harris and Daniel "Danny"� Harris both of Silver Point; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Ann and Terry Burton of the Wolf Creek Community of DeKalb County; Ellie and Larry Lindsey of Lebanon; one brother and sister-in-law, Reggie and Barbara Shanks of Cookeville. Mrs. Harris"�s family will receive friends Monday 12 noon until time of services at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Odd Fellows Cemetery fund by contacting the funeral home.
