J. T. Davis

Funeral services for Mr. J. T. Davis, age 75 of Cookeville, will be held at 1pm Saturday, March 1, at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Self and Bro. Roger Davis officiating. Interment will follow in the Byers Cemetery in Jackson County. The family will receive friends Saturday from 11am until service time at the funeral home. Mr. Davis died suddenly Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at his home. He was born July 25, 1938 in Bloomington Springs, TN to the late Haskell and Vera Goolsby Davis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, James Richard Davis; brother, Haskell Davis JR; and two sisters, Emogene Dildine and Louise Davis. Mr. Davis attended church services at the Marsh Chapel of the Cookeville Rescue Mission. He was retired from the Putnam County School System where he served as custodian. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Dorothy Munday Davis (whom he married March 16, 1960 in Detroit, MI); five sons and two daughters-in-law, Paul Davis, Rob Davis and Michelle Self, Billy Davis, Johnny and Debbie Davis, David Davis, all of Cookeville; two brothers and sister-in-laws, Roger and Sandy Davis of KY, and Jimmy and Sherry Davis of Carthage, TN; three sistes, Ruby Henry, Sue Maxwell, and Beatrice Farris, all of Cookeville; two granddaughters, Felicia and Elyssa Davis; and special friend, Jerry Brown. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.
