Graveside services and interment, with Military Honors, for Mr. Roy Herbert “Herb” Campbell, JR., 80 of Cookeville will be held Tuesday May 1 at 12 noon at Odd Fellows Cemetery. Johnny Fox will officiate. Herb’s family will receive friends Monday at Dyer Funeral Home from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Herb died suddenly Saturday morning April 28, 2018 at his home. He was born June 18, 1937 in Cookeville to the late Roy Herbert and Mary Maynard Campbell Sr. Herb was a member of Collegeside Church of Christ and a former long-time member of Sycamore Church of Christ. He was U. S. Army Veteran and a retired self-employed carpenter. Herb enjoyed the outdoors and loved to fish, camp, and golf. He was a Civil War history buff and a voracious reader. He especially loved reading the Bible. He was a kind and wise gentleman and a wonderful father and grandfather. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Tommie Jean Campbell; great grandson, Bo Winebrenner; and brother, Gary Campbell. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Chad and Dana Campbell, daughter and son-in-law, Rosemary and Eric Johnson all of Cookeville; five grandchildren, Logan and Kennady Campbell, Heather (Jon) Anderson, Erica (Sean) Winebrenner, and Kelsey Johnson; and sister, Jennifer Smoot of Morristown, TN; and nine great grandchildren, Jareth, Laney, Remi, Jeremy, Jayden, Sophia, Shelby, Sadie Mae, and Wyatt.
