Funeral services for Mrs. Helen Henderson Keeney, 83, of Cookeville, will be held at 1pm on Saturday, March 17, at Cookeville First United Methodist Church with Rev. Max Mayo and Rev. Drew Shelley officiating. Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 5 "� 8pm at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home and again Saturday from 12 noon until service time at the church. Mrs. Keeney died Monday, March 12, 2012 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born July 30, 1928 in Cookeville, TN to the late James Manson and Edith Henry Henderson. Mrs. Keeney was a very active member of Cookeville First United Methodist Church. She was a member of the United Methodist Women and the Friendship Sunday School Class, having served as secretary for both for many years. She was also a member of the Cookeville Pilot Club. She graduated fourth of her graduating class in 1946 from Central High School. She received her Business Degree from Tennessee Polytechnic Institute in 1950. She was an avid TTU sports fan and season ticket holder for both football and basketball. She loved playing cards, cooking, reading, dancing, music and laughter. A loving mother and grandmother, she especially enjoyed family events and activities. She took great delight in her grandchildren and great nieces and nephews. She was a retired associate with the State of Tennessee Employment Security Department. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Hannah Young. Mrs. Keeney is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Karla Duke of Cookeville and Edie and Derrick Young of Springfield, OH; grandson, Keenan Young; two brothers, H. LeRoy Henderson and wife Mary Faith Henderson of Winchester and James Manson Henderson, Jr. and wife Gail of Cookeville. Pallbearers will be Derrick Young, Keenan Young, Hank Henderson, Jr., Kirk Augspurger, Nick Augsburger, Nathaniel Garcia, Jared Henderson and Lewis Matheney. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Brigstock, Luis Garcia, Joe Gildehaus, Bassam Hammoudeh, Danny Kilpatrick, Kenny Presley, Ed Smith, Steve Walker, and members of the Friendship Sunday School Class, the Mary Martha Circle, the Pilot Club and the card club girls. Mrs. Keeney was especially blessed by the care she received from the girls with Southern Comforts and Angie Linde.
