Genova Sparks

Funeral services for Mrs. Genova Sparks, age 82 of Cookeville, will be held Sunday December 18, at 1 p.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Cemetery. Rev. Terry Geren and Rev. Tim Miles will officiate. Mrs. Sparks' family will receive friends Saturday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Sunday from 12 noon until service time at the funeral home. Mrs. Sparks died Friday December 16, 2016 at her home. She was born December 26, 1933 in Overton County, Tennessee to the late Odus and Delavine Beaty Dennis. Mrs. Sparks was life-long member of Wilhite Baptist Church. She retired from Wilson Sporting Goods and farmed with her husband for over 50 years. She was also a loving, caring mother and grandmother who enjoyed cooking and gardening as well as sewing, quilting and crocheting. She was much loved and will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Howard Sparks (who died June 5, 2016); sister, Lois Dennis; and four brothers, Dexter, Denver, J.B. and James Dennis. Survivors include her son, Terry Sparks of Cookeville; two daughters and a son-in-law, Linda Helm of Silver Point, TN and Judy (Keith) Schinbeckler of Cookeville; eight grandchildren, Anastasia and Zak Schinbeckler, Sam Helm, Audrey Helm, Matthew Helm, Trent Sparks, Tawny Sparks, and Tabitha (Daniel) Hammock; and five great grandchildren.
