Funeral services for Ellis Crawford, 89 of the Boma Community, will be Monday, September 28 at 1 PM at the Baxter Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home. Interment with military honors by the Veterans Honor Guard will be in the New Home Baptist Church Cemetery in the Boma Community.Bro. Tim Sharp will officiate. The family will receive friends Sunday from 5 to 8 PM and after 10 AM Monday at the funeral home. Due to COVID-19 social distancing will be observed. Mr. Crawford died Thursday, September 24, 2020 at his home. He was born in Boma July 8. 1931 to the late David and Sallie James Crawford. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Larry Crawford, sisters Janetta Maynard and Mary Hayes, brothers Othel, Verdon, K.D., Alvin and Grady Crawford. He was a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Boma First Church of God. He was a retired mechanic. Ellis worked at Clarence Wilson Service Station and then opened his own, Crawford Service Station in Baxter. He also worked at Texas Boot Co. He enjoyed gardening, working on vehicles and spending time with family and friends. Survivors include wife of 67 years (Married May 23, 1952 in Rossville, GA) Juanita Hammock Crawford, daughter Kathy Kessler both of Boma, grandchildren: Amber Crawford of Cookeville, Hailee and husband Taylor Cantrell of Mt. Juliet, great-grandchildren: Keyonta and Haven Crawford. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
