Elisha King

Funeral services for Mr. Elisha Benjamin King, age 77 of Cookeville, will be held Wednesday March 18, 2020 at 1:00 pm in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Evangelist Ceylonda Lee will officiate. Interment will follow in the West End Church of Christ Cemetery. His family will receive friends Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Mr. King died suddenly Sunday March 15, 2020 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born October 29, 1942 in Smith County, TN to the late Horace and Mary Francis Bartlett King. Mr. King was employed at Fleetguard in Cookeville, working for approximately 40 years until his retirement in 2005. Elisha was an avid storyteller. He was friendly, never met a stranger and enjoyed cutting up with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Thelia Jean Thompson King; son, Jeff Thompson, sister, Linda Reeves; and brothers, James King, Ray King and Mark King. Mr. King is survived by two daughters, Jo Anne King and Janell (Joey) Vernon, all of Cookeville; grandchildren, Charlton (Kyston) King, Benjamin (Bethany) Vernon, Destiny (Taylor-fiance') Vernon and Jasmie (Briley-fiance') Vernon; fourteen great grandchildren; and by sisters, Katherine Dirkson, Margaret Carr, Sue Frazier and Sharon Kersey. Charlton King, Benjamin Vernon, Keith King, Kenric King, Taylor Suggs and Briley Hodnett will serve as pallbearers. Hooper Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
