Funeral services for Mr. Doyle McDonald, age 100 of Cookeville, will be held Saturday, July 9th at 1 p.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Entombment with military honors will follow at Crest Lawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Rev. T.J. Bennett will officiate. Mr. McDonald's family will receive friends Friday from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. and again Saturday from 12 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. A Masonic Service conducted by Cookeville Lodge #266 F&AM will be held Friday at 7 p.m. Mr. McDonald died Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at Signature HealthCARE of Putnam County in Algood. He was born May 12, 1916 in Forest Grove, Montana to the late William Dillard and Maude Myers McDonald. He served as a Sergeant in the US Army Air Corp during World War II. He worked as an electrical supervisor with Ford Motor Company for 38 years. He was a Mason and 67 year member of Lodge 542 in Dearborn, Michigan. He and wife Dorothy moved to Cookeville in 1977. He was always staying busy, working and keeping his mind sharp. One of his many talents was woodworking. He was a member of Baxter United Methodist Church and the Al Menah Shrine Temple in Nashville. He lived an active and vibrant life up until his recent illness. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Eula Watkins; brothers, Aaron McDonald and John McDonald; and by a niece, Connie Phillips. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dorothy Lucile Harmer McDonald; nieces and nephews, Ila Yeo, Dennis and Jay Ann McDonald, Aaron and Cindy McDonald, David and Jackie McDonald and Bruce and Bev McDonald; great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews; cousin, Thelma Johnson.
