Dorothy Bowman

Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy Evelyn Bowman, age 98, of Cookeville, will be at 1 p.m. Friday, July 30 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home with Pastor Brett Margetjak officiating. Interment will follow at Okolona Cemetery in Overton County. The family will receive friends Friday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Bowman went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday evening, July 26, 2016. She was born December 31, 1917 in Overton County, TN to the late Sydney and Margaret Bowman Howard. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Ralph Bowman; two daughters, Judy Davis and Bettye Murphy; nine sisters, Rachel and Beulah Howard, Lola Roberson, Lonie Vaughn, Poppit Swallows, Rosie Buttram, Maggie Hall, Treggie Speck and Lula McCowan; two brothers, Ernest and Winfield Howard; and a great-granddaughter, Danielle Shearer. Mrs. Bowman was a homemaker and member of Algood First Freewill Baptist Church. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Patsy Bowman of Nashville, Dillious and Bonnie Bowman of Cookeville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sue and Bill Neal of Nashville, Jeanette and Buddy Crawford of Cookeville; 13 grandchildren, Larry Newgent, Renee Coleman, Kenny Bowman, Tammy Miller, Greg Neal, Michelle Holcombe, Karen Rogers, Sharon Davis, Angel Warden, Kim Margetjak, Kyle Copeland, Heather Bean, and Jacob Bowman; 25 great-grandchildren; and her long-time loving caregiver, Tina Rittenberry. Pallbearers will be Buddy Crawford, Kyle Copeland, Larry Newgent, Chris Coleman, Rob Warden, Greg Neal, Kenny Bowman, and Jacob Bowman.
