Memorial services with military honors for Curtis A Shinsky, age 82 of Cookeville, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday January 8 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Bro. Andy Brewster will officiate. His family will receive friends Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of services. Curtis passed away Saturday December 11, 2021 at his home. He was born December 10, 1939 in Dearborn, MI to the late Barney and Evyonne Fach Shinsky. Curtis served in the US Navy from 1958 to 1962. During his time of service, he was honored as a member of the crew that commissioned the U.S.S. Iwo Jima and was recognized for crossing the Antarctic Circle. He was a member of Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ and longtime real estate broker. He was a member and former chairman of the Putnam County Republican Party, member and former president of the Cookeville Kiwanis Club, and member of the Veterans Honor Guard. He is survived by his wife Patricia Denny Shinksy; sister, Gail (Richard) Angelo of Westland, MI; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard, Bill, and Ronald Shinsky.
