Charles Bruce

Funeral services for Charles H. Bruce 86, of Baxter will be Sunday, August 21 at 2 P.M. from the Baxter Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home. Interment, with Military Honors, will follow in Crest Lawn Cemetery. Mr. Bruce died Thursday morning, August 18, 2011 at his home. He was born March 27, 1925 in the Bruce Ridge Community of Putnam County to the late Hobson and Beatrice Sadler Bruce. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Clarence Bruce. He was a retired custodian with Tennessee Tech University and was a member of Buckner Free Will Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. Survivors are wife of 63 years Katherine Robinson Bruce (whom he married October 15, 1947 in Rossville, GA); daughter & son-in-law Linda & Roger Conley; son Steve Bruce all of Baxter; three grandsons: Steven, Bryan & Brandon Bruce, sister Edna LaCasse of Shelby Township, MI, two brothers & a sister-in-law Roy David & Lisa Bruce of Southgate, MI, Billy Bruce of Shelby Township, MI. Mr. Bruce"�s family will receive friends Saturday from 5 p.m. until 8 P.M. and Sunday from 11 A.M. until service time at the funeral home. Bro. Ed Shaver will officiate.
