LEBANON/MONTEREY, TN-Mrs. Carolyn Frances Humphries passed away peacefully on July 19, 2024, at the age of 78 in Lebanon, TN. Born on February 12, 1946, in Carthage, TN, Carolyn was a light of love and kindness to all who knew her.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Woodie and Roberta Overstreet Key; her daughter, Sandy Reagan; her granddaughter, Lisa Crowder; her sister, Mary Cathy Smith; and her brother, William Sam Key. She is survived by her devoted husband of 36 years, James Humphries, and her loving daughters, Grace Deizman and Angie Chambers. Her legacy continues through her six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, who will miss her deeply.
Carolyn's life was also enriched by her siblings, with whom she shared an unbreakable bond. She is survived by her sisters, Janet (Roy) Greenwood and JoAnn (Thomas) Light; her brothers, Robert Key, Paul Key, Wayne (Marsha) Key, Randall (Rosie) Key, Kenneth (Donna) Key, and Tommy (Tammy) Key; and her sister-in-law, Toni Key.
The early years of Carolyn's life were marked by frequent moves due to her father's career as a minister. This lifestyle instilled in her the values of adaptability and the importance of family connections, which remained central throughout her life.
Carolyn's work ethic shone brightly during her 15 years as a supervisor at Kentucky Fried Chicken, where she was respected and admired by her colleagues for her leadership and unwavering support.
Beyond her work life, Carolyn's interests were diverse and full of joy. She relished trips to casinos, where she found excitement and pleasure in the vibrant atmosphere. However, it was her role as a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend that truly defined her. Carolyn was the epitome of a giving person, always placing the needs of others before her own. Her dedication to her family was unparalleled, especially to her children and grandchildren, for whom she had an endless reservoir of love and support.
Carolyn's warmth and generosity extended beyond her immediate family to touch the lives of everyone she encountered. She was known for her compassionate spirit and her ability to make those around her feel cherished and valued.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 22, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Welch Memorial Cemetery. Pastor Darrell Key and Rev. Eugene McCowan will officiate.
Her family will receive friends Sunday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00p.m. and again Monday from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Randall Key, Mike Smith, Ray Smith, Justin Scruggs, Colten Smoot and Cody Roark will serve as pallbearers.
