Carmen Bumbalough

Funeral services for Carmen Dolores Bumbalough, 84, of Arlington Texas, formerly of Cookeville, will be held Friday, December 1 at 10:00 am from the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Interment with military honors will follow at the West Cemetery in the Burgess Falls community. The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 30th from 5 - 8 p.m and Friday morning from 9 am until service time. Father Chad Puthoff will officate. Carmen passed away Thursday morning, November 23,2017 at her home. She was born in Gurabo, Puerto Rico on May 8,1933. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paula Betancourt and Francisco Davila. She joined the Navy in 1953 where she met her former husband, Bill Bumbalough. After the Navy the couple made their home in San Pedro, California before settling in Cookeville TN. Carmen received her BS degree in Biology from Tennessee Tech and taught for many years in the Putnam County School System. Carmen later worked for the State of Tennessee as a Fraud Investigator where she retired in 1988. An avid golfer and Tennessee Vols fan, Carmen also enjoyed water aerobics, crocheting and baking her famous homemade bread. She is survived by one son, Steven (Robyn) of Arlington Texas; two daughters, Natalie Clark of Columbus, Ohio and Mary (Glyn) Crossno of Manchester, TN; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Pall Bearers will be: Tallie Cain-Cullity, Arthur Cain, Stephen Thomas, Ben Eckerson, Glyn Crossno, Chris Bumbalough. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the American Diabetes Associaton, P.O. Box 15829, Arlington, VA 22215.
