Graveside services and interment for Mr. Bruce Glynn Roach, 77 of Algood, will be held at 11 am Friday, June 27 at the Algood City Cemetery with Rev. Pat Smith and Tommy West officiating. Friends and family will gather Thursday from 4 – 8pm at the Algood Family Event Center 124 1st Avenue Algood, TN (formerly Algood Chapel). Mr. Roach died Tuesday afternoon, June 24, 2014 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born July 23, 1936 in the Willow Grove Community of Clay County, TN to the late A. C. (Sonny) and Venus Dulworth Roach. Bruce graduated from Algood High School where he played basketball. There met his high school sweetheart and future wife, Frances Ann West. Bruce served in the United States Army in Europe from 1956 to 1959. He retired from East Tennessee Natural Gas Company with 25 years of service. He also served on the Algood City Council from 2002 to 2010, including one term as vice mayor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Opal Scott, Hansel Williams, Aenona Goolsby and five brothers, Reid, Feldman, Earl, Elmer, and Willie Roach. He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Frances Ann West Roach (whom he married March 3, 1957 in Ringgold, GA); two loving sons, Tim Roach of Nashville and Scott Roach of Algood and future daughter in law Tracy Webb McCormick; grandson Michael Roach of Cookeville; two sisters and brother-in-law, Betty Lou and Freddie Maxwell of Algood, and Emma Jean Puckett of Algood; and brother, Ray (Norma) Roach of Cookeville. Members of the Algood City Police and Fire Departments will serve as pallbearers.
