BAXTER-Private family graveside services were held for Solon "Bro. Archie" Whitefield, 92 of Baxter, at Smellage Memory Gardens in the Boma Community on Monday, November 29 at 11:30 AM. Bro. Tim Sharp and Bro. Luke Wilken officiated. Mr. Whitefield died Saturday morning, November 27, 2021 at his home in the Boma Community. He was born November 19, 1929 in DeKalb County to the late Roosevelt and Myrtle Carter Whitefield. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Joanna Oakes Whitefield on September 24, 2016, daughter Sherry Whitefield, brother Raymon Whitefield. He was a Army veteran, serving in the British West Indies. He was a member of Boma First Church of God and had not missed Sunday School attendance in over 60 years. He was a minister for many years. Bro. Archie retired from Mid South Machine of Cookeville as a machinist, he also worked at Cookeville Industries for many years. He enjoyed gardening, spending time with family and friends and his church family. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law Debbie and Wayne Mitchell of Silver Point, Millie and Mike Gammons of Mt. Juliet, grandchildren: Kelly Stiriz (Charlie), Nick Mitchell (Liz), Travis Dedmon (Lynnsey), Nicole Starkey (Jared), great-grandchildren: Chaz, Anna, Camilla, Marshall and Stella. Serving as pallbearers were Brian, Dustin, Gary, Ronnie, Chris Whitefield and Cody Maynard. In lieu of flowers please make memorial contributions to Boma First Church of God, 1030 Old Baxter Road, Baxter, TN 38544 in memory of Bro. Archie.
