Bobby Simmons

BAXTER-Funeral services for Bobby Eugene Simmons, 74 of Silver Point, were held Saturday, April 3 at 2 PM at the Baxter Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home. Interment followed in Smellage Memory Gardens in the Boma Community of Putnam County. Bro. Sterl Paramore and Megan Nixon officiated. The family received friends Friday from 5 to 8 PM and after 11 AM Saturday until time of services. Due to COVID-19, social distancing measures were observed. Mr. Simmons died Wednesday morning, March 31, 2021 in Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born April 17, 1946 in Olive Branch, Illinois to the late Ray Simmons and Thelma Smiley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Ann Haugk Simmons on April 7, 2013. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, outdoor activities and spending time with family and friends. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law Danny and Tena Simmons of Silver Point, Tommy and Cindy Simmons Trussville, Alabama, Terry and Lisa Simmons of Sparta, Randy and Beth Simmons of Charleston, South Carolina, grandchildren: Megan (Chris) Nixon, Mitchell, Mason, Jessica, Kayleen, Zack, Alicia, Chelsea (Dolan) Bussard, Brittany, Lindsey, Nick and Trent Simmons, great-grandchildren: Carson and Lucas Nixon, Cole and Caroline Simmons, sister Peg Woodruff of Olive Branch, Ill., brothers Jim (Ellen) Simmons of Olive Branch, Ill., and Jerry (Nikki) Crite of Norfolk, VA, special friend Bonnie Batchelor. Active Pallbearers will be Mason, Mitchell, Trent, Nick Simmons, Chris Nixon and Mike Perhay. Baxter Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements (931)858-2134.
