Billy Joe Hampton

Funeral services for Billy Joe Hampton, age 81 of Sparta, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday March 6 at Hampton's Crossroads Baptist Church. Rev. Gary Farris and Rev. Maston Jackson officiated. Interment followed at Nash Cemetery in White County. The family received friends Saturday from 11 a.m. until service time at the church. Social distancing and the use of masks were appreciated. Billy Joe passed away Wednesday evening March 3, 2021 at Standing Stone Care and Rehabilitation. He was born January 30, 1939 in White County, TN to the late Joe Dib Hampton and Lennie Mae Clouse Hampton. Billy Joe was a farmer. He was a veteran of the US Army and later served with the TN Air National Guard. Billy was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Brenda Hitchcock Hampton, whom he married January 9, 1970; son, Chris (Christy) Hampton of Sparta; brother, Bob (Pearl) Hampton of Greenback, TN; sister, Doris (Glen) Whittaker of Cookeville; grandchildren, Tanner and Tucker Hampton, Brandon Bryant, Ashley (Josh) Hull, and Josh Brady; and several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Tracy Brady.
