Funeral service for Mr. William Lee Franklin, 65, of Cookeville, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 7, from the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home with Bro. Johnny Fox officiating. Interment with military honors provided by the Veterans Honor Guard will follow at Overton County Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12 noon until service time at the funeral home. Mr. Franklin died Wednesday, March 4, 2015, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born December 28, 1949, in Livingston, TN, to Peggy Lollar Franklin and the late Luther Glen Franklin. Bill was a member of Holladay Church of Christ. He was an US Army veteran and member of the American Legion. Bill worked in electronic sales and service in the Cookeville area for over 20 years. He later worked at Fleetguard with over 16 years of service and was a member of UAW local 1407. He enjoyed the outdoors, including hunting, birdwatching, gardening, and sports. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 45 years, Harriett Gentry Franklin; son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Julie Franklin of Cookeville; daughter and son-in-law, Brittany and Chris Key of Cookeville; brother and sister-in-law, Doug and Dian Franklin of Livingston; sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Charles Vaden of Lebanon; two grandchildren, Cody and Jared Batson; and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, Bell Fort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL, 32256.
