Private graveside services and interment for Betty Jo Hunter, age 80 of Cookeville, will be held Tuesday December 8 at Cookeville City Cemetery. Bro. Jimmy Arms will officiate. Betty passed away Saturday December 5, 2020 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born June 19, 1940 in the Double Springs community of Putnam County to the late Walter and Genia Jernigan Maxwell. Betty was an active member of Stevens Street Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School. She was retired from the Office of Financial Aid at Tennessee Tech with over 25 years of service. She is survived by her son, David (Tammy) Hunter; daughter, Mary Beth (Danny) Sliger, all of Cookeville; grandchildren, Brittany (Tony) Bradford of Cookeville, Meagan (Andrew) Hathaway of Knoxville, Emily Hunter, and Haley Hunter both of Cookeville; Danielle Sliger and Allyson Sliger both of Cookeville; great-grandchildren, Connor and Lily Bradford, Hollace Hathaway, and Jasper Andrews; niece, Susan Gatlin; and nephew, Jonathan (Amy) Stout. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Hunter; and sister, Brenda Maxwell Stout. Memorial contributions may be made to the Stevens Street Baptist Church Building Fund, 327 W Stevens St, Cookeville, TN 38501. Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
