A homemaker, she spent her life making her house a home to immediate family, extended family, and others who always found themselves welcome in her home. She was born in Overton County, Tennessee and spent her youth in her home county before a summer visit to her sister’s in Michigan led to her meeting her lifelong mate, John Houser and marrying on October 12, 1957. The family lived for a time in Detroit before moving back to Tennessee, living in Maryville, Tennessee for about a decade before moving back to her hometown in 1971 where she lived the rest of her days. Simply put her lifetime passion was in caring for her family and in bringing others to the Lord. She was compassionate to those in need, caring and nurturing to those less fortunate and without fanfare went about helping people.
