Mrs. Alma Sue Burgess Ford, age 90, of Cookeville, passed away Sunday morning, March 17, 2019 at her home. Mrs. Ford was born March 8, 1929 in Putnam County, TN to the late Robert and Effie Lee Horn. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Rex Allen Burgess; three brothers, Charles, Alva, and Billy Horn; three sisters, Myrtie Bilbrey, Ruby McArthur, and Alline Farley; nephews, David Farley and Tommy Horn; and niece Carol Wyland. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Ford; two step-sons, Kenneth (Donna) Ford of Hilliard, OH, Dow Ford of Dayton, OH; nieces, Dean Buckner of Cookeville, Bennie Phillips of Ohio; nephews, Bill Horn of Bell Buckle, TN; great-nephews, Rex Buckner of Cookeville, Randy Buckner of Utah, Leonard, Lester, and James Farley, all of Texas; and several cousins. Mrs. Ford was a member of Eastwood Baptist Church. She loved her church family. She enjoyed cooking, entertaining friends and family, tending her flowers and decorating for all occasions. She also enjoyed traveling and participating in activities at the Cookeville Senior Center. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday March 20 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Pastor Frank Hickman will officiate. Interment will follow at Arlington of TN Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 11 a.m. until service time.
