Funeral services for Mrs. Adlene Prince Dobson, age 90 of Cookeville and formerly of Chattanooga, will be held Thursday, February 8th at 12:00pm (CST) in the Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Pastor Frank Ogilive, minister at Heritage Pointe Senior Living and special friend, will officiate. Mrs. Dobson's family will receive friends Thursday from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. A graveside service and interment will be held Friday, February 9th at 12:30 p.m. (EST) at Chattanooga National Cemetery in Chattanooga. Mrs. Dobson died Sunday February 4, 2018 at 10:45 a.m. in Heritage Pointe Senior Living in Cookeville. She was born January 30, 1928 in Cherokee County, Alabama to the late William Floyd and Grace Peek Prince. She graduated from Southern Business University in Atlanta, Georgia. After graduation, she was Secretary to the President of the University of North Georgia. She was employed by the Neurosurgical Group in Chattanooga as the Comptroller and retired after 29 years. As a longstanding member of Brainerd Baptist Church, she enjoyed teaching Sunday School in the Beginner Department. Her strong Christian faith and love for others were a very important part of her life. This was often seen in her unselfish gift of caring for others. She always put God first, others second, and herself last. She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 64 years, Joseph L. Dobson. Strong family values and work ethic were very important to them which was evident in the way they lived their lives. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sister, Helen "Dee" Prince; her brother, Bill (Sandra) Prince; and Hubert (Phoye) Prince. She is survived by daughters, Carla (Richard) King of Cookeville and Cheryl (David) Walker of Huntsville, AL; grandchildren, Andrew (Libby) Issit, Sara (Chad) Walker, Harrison Walker, Cindy (Randall) King, Eric (Rebecca) King and by six great grandchildren. The last six years of her life were spent at Heritage Pointe surrounded by friends, caring staff and loving caregivers; Linda Mort, Miranda Cook, Janet Whitehead, Lori Griggs, Kathy Barenkeamb, Logan McClain, and Suzie Mai Maynard. Adlene's family expresses sincere gratitude for the excellent and compassionate care extended to her.
